Rare Anhydrite Nica Old Stock Green-Blue Fluorite & Calcite Mined 1980s From Nica Mine, Chihuahua, Mexico 🇲🇽 40 Year Old Stock #1

These rare collector cabinet Anhydrite specimens were mined in the 1980’s and are highly recommended for any collector. We were lucky to be able to add to our stock three old specimens, from a miner who held onto a pocket of Anhydrite specimens he mined for over 40 years. Such a lucky find for Laura’s Crystal Tea U.K. collectors.

The three specimens in our stock feature the special and rare mineral Anhydrite, from a pocket in the Nica Mine, Mexico 🇲🇽 

What is Anhydrite: 

“Anhydrite is a rare mineral which is a colourless, bluish, blue-grey, violet, burgundy-red, white, rose-pink, brownish, reddish, grey, dark grey; colourless in transmitted light. It was named in 1804 by Abraham Gottlob Werner from the Greek άνυδρος ("anhydros") meaning "without water", in allusion to the lack of water in its composition, in contrast to gypsum, which contains water.” (From Mindat)

About The Nica Mine:

The Nica Mine has produced world class specimens of all ranges of minerals, from Selenite to Galena to Fluorite to Anhydrite. This mine is the location of the famous two mineral wonders, that of the “Cave of Swords” and “Giant Selenite Cave”. These have produced some of the most scientifically advanced analysis of Sleenite specimens. These scientific studies also includes the fascinating mineral Anhydrite, which is surprisingly found forming with Nica. Anhydrite is unable to be exposed as it doesn’t have water in its chemical makeup.  and Selenite is formed with water, it is somewhat an oxymoron to state they are found forming together.

Specimen Information ℹ️ 

Specimens should not be washed and must be handled with care. We suggest that they are placed on infrequently used furniture or shelves and display cabinets.  They do not cope with being dropped, so we urge caution when handling them. 

We stock a limited amount of stands, so we will add them in ACCESSORIES section as we get stock in. 

These are earth mined crystal, this means there will be a variation of colour, shape and size. All sizes are approximate and vary from piece to piece.
