When and how did our passion for crystals start?
I, Laura, has been obsessed with sparkle ✨ since I was a child. My husband Kevin and I have a obsession for genuine gemstones aka crystals since 2007, which has taken us on an amazing journey to find some beautiful pieces for our personal collection. This includes: Brazilian (Original Mine) and Mozambique Paraiba Tourmaline, Shimoyo Rubellite, Diamonds and all manner of other real gemstones.
When did you start to collect and stock crystals?
Once we started to find our way around all the different gems available we started to plan our new chapter. In this new chapter, I (Laura) first began to create beaded jewellery, which progressed into jewellery and sculptures from fine silver 999 metal clay by 2012.
The first public display of my (Laura) designs where at the The Royal College of Arts, London at Flux Exhibition and I have exhibited, commissioned and sold my work with many galleries since then.
Why and when did you, Laura, stop making fine silver jewellery?
While designing jewellery I began forming a collection of individual loose gemstones for my collection, to be able to draw from this for my designs. However, my disability was frustratingly affecting my hands and my disability worsened, affecting my finesse and my ability to create fine work.
In 2021, I began to view and buy larger mineral and decorative pieces for our home, as decorations. This included simple items like raw Clear Quartz or Agate geodes, which expanded once I found new wholesalers to buy from and then next chapter has begun.
Our passion lights our way and the decades of accumulated knowledge we have has remained and is something we draw from to build our small store, listing beautiful pieces with competitive prices.
Starting Our Journey Laura’s Crystal Tea U.K.
Our store Laura’s Crystal Tea U.K. was began through discovering TikTok is a new place to find gemstones, there called crystals. We began to collect pieces for our home and personal enjoyment. It was over time we thought this could be a new home to share our fascination. A place we can use our knowledge to source vendors and purchase crystals for a small business.
What are you goals and plans for the future?
We want to pass on our savings by working with competitive and exciting vendors from around the world, who will offer us genuine products at a fantastic low price.
We have suppliers from around the world, mainly sourcing our stock from the U.K., South Africa and China.
What are each of your favourite types of minerals?
My husband, Kevin, has a eye for gem grade cut gemstones and will be offering our customers and visitors a chance to buy some truly special genuine gemstones from us in the future.
I adore finding rarity in specimens and love to share my fascination with the energy in crystals, with a fabulous stock of tumbles and palms. Perfect to hold and use to calm and focus, similar to fidget toys.
