Introducing to Laura’s Crystal Tea U.K. Pyrite Suns from Sparta, Illinois, USA 🇺🇸

We are delighted to be having stunning Pyrite Suns which display a flashy reflective surface, which emulates the sun. 

These stunning large flat disk shaped specimens are the largest found, only seen in Sparta, Illinois. These Pyrite Suns, also called “miners dollars”, and are found trapped in 300 million year old shale, just above a coal seam in a Herrin coal mine at 200 to 250 feet below ground. These mineral specimens have an unusual formation which displays striations radiating out from the center like rays of the sun.  These disks can be found in very small sizes; however, they’re only seen in these large disks in this one location and are essentially unique to Illinois.

Specimen Information ℹ️ 

Specimens should not be washed and must be handled with care. We suggest that they are placed on infrequently used furniture or shelves and display cabinets.  They do not cope with being dropped, so we urge caution when handling them. 

We stock a limited amount of stands, so we will add them in ACCESSORIES section as we get stock in. 

These are earth mined crystal, this means there will be a variation of colour, shape and size. All sizes are approximate and vary from piece to piece.
